Basil Botha
President & CEO, Director

Mr. Botha brings more than 30 years international coal mining and marketing experience, primarily gained with Otavi Mining Ltd. and Reef Coal Mining Ltd. in Johannesburg, South Africa.  He has extensive knowledge dealing with coal beneficiation processes and ancillary by-products and has specialized in start up mining operations, mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance.

Peter Arendt, P.Eng
Chief Operating Officer, Director

Mr. Arendt is a senior mining professional with 20 years of industry experience. He spent 10 years in mine operations and engineering roles for major mining companies in Australia and Canada, followed by 10 years in international coal marketing with Luscar Ltd. Mr. Arendt is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and a Graduate Diploma in Business.

Peter Pollard, PhD
Director

Dr. Peter Pollard has over 20 years experience as a consultant in project generation and evaluation principally in iron-oxide copper-gold and porphyry copper-gold deposits worldwide and has published over 55 papers on aspects of copper-gold, tin-tungsten and rare-metal mineralization. He holds Bachelor of Science (Hons) and PhD degrees in geology from James Cook University, Australia and is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists. Peter is also a non-executive director of Journey Resources Corporation and Hunter Bay Minerals plc.

Paul McNaughton
Director

Mr. McNaughton has over 25 years in the South African coal industry as marketer and trader, beginning with Transvaal Coal Owners Association and later moving on to co-establish  Reef Coal Mining, a South African coal mining and trading company, which was sold to MacPhail Ltd in 1988. Mr. McNaughton currently operates a financial consultancy business and has developed many relationships in the South African business community. Over the past few years, Mr. McNaughton has served as a consultant on coal related projects on behalf of investors, the most recent of which has been the IMBS project. Mr. McNaughton holds a B.A. and MBA from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
